Study: US Protestants Keep Their Children in the Faith at a Higher Rate Than Catholics or the Unaffiliated

 

Four out of five children raised by two Protestant parents remained Protestant into adulthood, according to the latest study from the Pew Research Center. For those raised in Protestant homes where religion was very important or often discussed, the retention rate jumps even higher (85% and 89%, respectively).


 

Oldest Hebrew Mention of Jerusalem Outside of Bible Found on Rare 2,700-Year-Old Papyrus

 

A rare document written in ancient Hebrew gives the earliest extra-biblical mention of Jerusalem ever found. The small document written on papyrus contains two lines of Hebrew script. According to archaeologists the letters are clearly legible and say: "From the king's maidservant, from Naʽarat, jars of wine, to Jerusalem." Some scholars, however, question its authenticity.

International Day of the Bible is November 14

 

On Monday, Nov. 14 at noon local time―in public or online (#BibleCelebration)―people of all ages are invited to participate in International Day of the Bible by taking pause for a few minutes to read or even sing Scripture or otherwise creatively express their love of the Bible.

Prolific Christian author and Bible editor Dr. Lawrence O. Richards died October 16, 2016. Among his authorship of more than 200 works, Richards was the general editor of the Adventure Bible (Zonderkidz) and the co-general editor with his wife, Sue, for the Teen Study Bible (Zondervan).
