According to the latest Gallup research, 24% of Americans believe the Bible is the literal word of God, the lowest in Gallup's 40-year trend. Also, 26% view the Bible only as secular stories and history, up from 21% in 2014. The largest polling segment, 47%, still think the Bible is the inspired word of God.
