Nearly four in 10 Americans are active churchgoers, Barna Group reports, while 43% are unchurched and 34% describe themselves as dechurched. Respondents are classified post-Christian when they meet 9 out of 16 criteria, including identifying as agnostic or atheist, disagreeing the Bible is accurate, not making a commitment to Jesus Christ, not attending church for 6 months, and believing that Jesus sinned.
